Lessons 10 & 11- Hair Growth

Lesson 10: There are no shortcuts to hair growth.

Patience, time and TLC are the only things that will get you to your hair goals. How I wish this was not so, it is the truth. expect your hair to grow at a rate of about 14cm per year. It may be slightly more or less but that is the general guideline. I measured my hair almost every month in the first three years. Now I check in on it about every 3-6 months. I have reached my bra strap milestone and I am ok with where I am. I would love to be at tailbone length but that will take another 4 years. So patience is my companion.

Lesson 11
The last great pointer is that it is a good idea to keep a hair journal. Often, I used a product or process that worked really well but when I tried it again it did not work at all. Due to a few different reasons which I may not be able to recall when I need it. Keeping a hair journal will help you keep track of what works and also what does not. It becomes a useful reference for faster ways for you to manage your hair. For example, that great twist out you had a few months ago may have been due to less or more product. It may have turned out great because you sat under the drier for an hour. Whatever the case may be, being able to quickly check on your hair history will help you. It is also a great way to keep track of your hair growth or how a particular product influenced positive or negative results. So use it as a tool to build your knowledge.

  1. That's so true SHL, I started keeping a hair journal last year and it had helped with me retaining length.
